NOTE: Dyno chart shows gains produced by ECU reflash only!

Dyno-Comp continues to lead the way in developing software for new platforms as they are released. Today Dyno-Comp is proud to introduce an ECU reflash for the Hyundai Veloster turbo! After countless hours of research and development we can now offer a product that is guaranteed to produce both great horsepower and torque gains. Our ECU reflash provides a completely custom calibration that is written VIN specific for your vehicle. This means no gimmicks, no canned maps, and absolutely no road tuning. We complete all upgrades utilizing the dyno to ensure optimal horsepower gains along with a safe air to fuel ratio. All factory diagnostics equipment remains operational post flash to ensure easy trips to the dealership for service. At the dealership level this reflash will appear to look just like a factory calibration and not raise any flags in the process.

This particular Veloster arrived at Dyno-Comp already equipped with an air intake system and exhaust system with a high flow cat. The impressive gains featured above were from the software reprogramming alone! If you are interested in this upgrade for your car please give us a call today. For more details on this project continue reading bellow...

Modifications:
Dyno-Comp Stage-1 ECU Upgrade
Air Intake System
Exhaust System w/ High Flow Cat

Baseline: 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo

REAL WORLD this is what a 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo equipped with an air intake and exhaust system puts down for power..

  • 183 (Wheel HP) x 1.20 = 220 HP at the flywheel.
  • 210 (Wheel TQ) x 1.20 = 252 TQ at the flywheel.

These numbers were taken from a modified car and may vary.

  • HP is now at 211 (at the wheels) which equates out to about 253 HP at the flywheel.
  • TQ is now at 258 (at the wheels) which is approx 310 TQ at the flywheel.

At the end of the day what does all this mean…

  • +33 HP increase at the flywheel.
  • +58 TQ increase at the flywheel.

and what is the fuel octane require 89? 91?
what happened to fuel consommation mpg or kpl?

    Reply
    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Alex,

This ECU calibration is optimized for 91 octane, we always recommend using 91 octane fuel even with the stock calibration for best results.
Fuel economy will increase under cruising conditions. Gains of 2-3 MPG have been observed on most cars.

Are there any plans to make a tune for non turbo Veloster models?

    Reply
    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Joshua,

We have re-flashed a couple of non-turbo Velosters. Its not a production re-flash however it can be done. We saw gains of about 15hp on the re-flash alone.

is there a way to get a second ecu so i dont have to send mine in?

    Reply
    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Eric,

You would need to purchase a second ECU from the dealership and have them VIN-code it to your car. Once that is completed you can send it in to us and we will be able to re-flash it for you.

About how much did this tune up cost, and where can I take my veloster to go get this tune up done?

    Reply
    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Diego,

This re-flash costs $550 (as of 10/07/2013). You can either ship your ECU to our shop or bring the car in for a custom dyno tune.

Can you guarantee this will not show up if warranty work is needed? Also what is the turn around time and will this work with the auto trans in the turbos?

    Reply
    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Dennis,

There are no guarantees when it comes to the dealership and warranty's. With that being said we have not had any problems on cars flashed previously, in worst cases the dealership flashed a factory calibration over our reflash.
Most reflashes can be completed in 1 day, and 2 days as a worst case scenario. We have done several automatic transmission cars and they have turned out great!

Does this tune increase the boost of the turbo or is it simply an air/fuel tune?

    Reply
    • Dyno-Comp

      Aaron,

Our reflash is a complete tuning solution. We change all required parameters including boost, timing, fueling, and adjusting the air/fuel ratio to name a few.

      Hello Mike,

The ECU re-flash does have the ability to turn off check engine lights for race and/ or off-road uses only.

Have you had any problems with the upgrade yet? I know someone who had this done, not sure what shop he had it done at, but his car would cut out at higher rpms. He eventually had to have it flashed back to stock.

Is there any possibility of a savings on these? Such as, a christmas special, if you will? I'd like the idea of the tune, but the cost is seeming to rise lol! I would actually of liked to see it gone down some from its initial debut. Any possibility for a tad more customizing to the tune also? Such as, if you put boost parameters to 22 could we ask for 24, or is this a more so canned style tune? Thanks!

    Reply
    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Gerid,

We do not have any planned sales at this time. The Hyundai Veloster ECU is actually one of the more complicated ECUs to reflash in terms of labor than any other ECU reflash we offer. All of our tunes are 100% custom based on the modifications which are installed on your car. We do not use any canned calibrations. You can request special things like a higher boost level, but we may advise against it based on the setup of the car.

      Thank you.

I have a 2015 Kia Forte5 with the 1.6L Turbo GDI and a manual transmission. It has the same motor/transmission set up as the Veloster. Do you know if this ECU Flash will work for my car? Or, do you have a ECU Flash out for my car?

    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Peter,

Are you local in Arizona or out of state? We do not have a production ECU reflash available for the Kia Forte. If you are local we can take a look at the cars ECU to see if this is a possibility.

      Thank you.

I have a new 2014 Veloster Reflex Edition with the larger 1.8 liter (non-turbo) engine. I enjoy everything about the car except its low end torque, or more accurately, it's specific lack of low end torque. I've read your recent posts stating you do not have access to a performance chip for my car. I was wondering if you expect to have the chip anytime soon, and if so, when.

    Thanks.

    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Ted,

Just to clarify, the service we offer is an ECU reflash for the cars factory ECU and not a physical chip. We do not have any plans to offer an ECU reflash for the 2014 Veloster Reflex Edition, however we would be open to evaluating a car if it was brought to our shop. Meaning we would attempt to read the ECU and see if a calibration is possible.

      Thank you.

Hey guys. I just bought my 2013 Veloster Turbo TODAY... about an hour ago.... Def. want to get this asap.. but want to know which are the best mods to put on first for a stock V/T... which don't REQUIRE a re-tune.... that way when i get my engine staged i can re tune it with everything in one shot. Thx for all the help!

    Reply
    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Stephen,

The only modifications which will be safe to install without tuning the Veloster Turbo will be a cat-back exhaust system and air intake. Any additional modifications such as a downpipe will require tuning.

      Thank you.

      Hello Misael,

If the dealership re-flashes your ECU within the 1st year, we will reflash the ECU at no charge. After the 1st year it will cost $150 to reflash the ECU for the new firmware.

      Thank you.

    • Dyno-Comp

      Hello Merced,

I'm not sure that I understand your question. The process is that you send us your ECU, we reflash the ECU, and you reinstall the ECU into your car.

      Thank you.

      Hello Matthew,

We do not offer a production reflash for the naturally aspirated Hyundai Veloster. We have reflashed a couple of cars in our testing to produce gains of only 10-15hp.

      Thank you.

I have a 2013 Hyundai veloster turbo and was interested in getting a reflash. How much would it cost to do so now? I'm located in California, would I get a discount for driving over to you guys? I currently have the stock intake and exhaust installed but was planning on getting aftermarket ones in the near future, is it better to install those first before reflashing?

    Thanks

We had had success with using the ECU reflash as well as O2 extenders to eliminate the check engine light for catalyst inefficiency.
