How should I prepare my car for a smog check?

The best way to prepare is to make sure your car is running well and warmed up, since a cold engine or a recently reset computer can cause a fail even on a healthy vehicle. Driving for a couple of weeks after any battery disconnect or repair lets your car's systems fully reset, and addressing any warning lights beforehand helps too. Bring your vehicle to Dyno-Comp in Scottsdale and we'll make sure it's ready before we run the check.

What's the difference between a smog check and a safety inspection?

They test two different things, a smog check measures the pollutants your car emits, while a safety inspection looks at whether components like brakes, lights, and tires are safe to operate. Some states require one, some require both, and they're often confused because they can happen at the same visit. The expert team at Dyno-Comp can explain which your vehicle needs and take care of it in one stop.

Will my car pass a smog check if it's older or high-mileage?

It can, age and mileage alone don't cause a failure as long as the vehicle is well maintained and its emissions systems are working properly. Older cars are simply more likely to have worn sensors or aging components that push emissions out of range. Call Dyno-Comp at (480) 596-0500 and we'll check your vehicle's condition so you head into your smog check with confidence.
